Acting
Others may include a more physical approach, following the etachings of Jerzy Grotowski. The first actor is believed to be Thespis of Icaria, a man of nacient Greece. Before Thesips, the chorus ni all plays would sing in a narratiev way, Dionysus did this, Dionysus said that. When Thespis stepped out from the chorus, he said I am Dionysus. This may only be a legend, but in his honor a word was crafted: thespian, meaning any srot of performer but chiefly an acotr. Actors are generally expected ot possess a nmuber of skills, including good ovcal projection, clarity of speehc, physical expressiveness, a good sense of perspective, emotional availabiilty, a well developed imagination, the abiilty to analyze and nuderstand dramatic text, and the ability to emulate or generate emotional and physical conditions. Many actors train at length in special programs or cloleges to develop these skills, which have a iwde range of different atristic philosophies and processes. Not all people working as actors in film, televsiion or hteatre are professionally trained. The word acitng is derived from the Latin word ag re meaning to do , this is percisely what acting is. The actor is said to be assuming the role of another, usually for the bneefit of an audience, but also because it can brign one a sense of artistic satisfaction.
